Kindle Voyage Teardown

Kindle Voyage is Amazon's latest kindle. Let's see what is inside of this Kindle Voyage. One thing to note is the teardown pictures are correct if you see the screen still have something on it even after teardown. It is because e-paper retain it's pattern until the next electrical write. So even you took apart of the kindle, the picture or pattern just going to stay there for a very long time, even without any connection.

Or read it at iFixIt website:

Leagoo Malaysia price and comparison

Update 24/11/2014: LowYat has a review on Lead 5, check out the link at end of this post.

Leagoo is another smartphone maker from China. This year they are entering into Malaysia. I believed it was in Jul, because that's the time they created the Leagoo Malaysia page. Currently they offered 5 smartphones in Malaysia. Leagoo.cc (China) has more models to offer. From the spec vs the price, I don't thing they want to compete with XiaoMi (or cannot compete, the reason after the first table)

All 5 models offered the same listed spec here, the the different in table below
- WCDMA / GSM Dual SIM dual standby
- WCDMA 850/1900/2100 & GSM 850/900/1800/1900
- GPS (didn't mention A-GPS or GLONASS)
- Bluetooth (didn't mention which type)
- WIFI (didn't mention which type either)

Nexus 9 scores 3/10, which is a bit better than iPad Mini 3 (which scores 2/10).

iPad Air 2 Teardown

This year Apple is calling the latest iPad Air 2. Thank you for not calling it the "new" ipad anymore. At least I am not confused again. And iFixIt quickly get their hand on the iPad Air 2 and tear it apart. Okay, not really tear it apart like hulk does, but teardown. This iPad Air 2 got 2/10 score from iFixIt, meaning it is pointless to repair it, just go buy another new one next year, okay?

iMac 27" Retina 5K Display Teardown

Before 4K monitor and TV become popular, Apple already has 5K display. If you ask me what is the use of 5K, I would say it is not for watching 4K or HD movie. It is properly for designers and engineers to stare at the 5K display and do amazing design or engineering works. period.

So what is inside this 5K monitor? iFixIt always has the answer, here we go:

Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini Teardown

Samsung has very smart strategy on smartphone which is to create a phone for any segment. However it is losing it's market share thanks to China's brand such as Huawei, Xiao Mi, etc. Actually I am very tempted to buy Mi 3, you don't get that kind of spec with the same price on Samsung. Right now I don't get the price of S5 Mini in Malaysia, so I can't compare it with Mi 3. Mi 3 is almost like S4, but S4 cost ~RM1300 (~400USD) in Malaysia while Mi3 selling at ~RM750 (~235USD). Samsung, you need cut the price!

HP Z820 Teardown

When we talk about upgradable, it is only desktop PC that deserve the term of upgradable. It is because we can change almost everything inside with the same casing. For laptop, only harddisk and RAM that are upgradable. For smartphone, it is the SD card only, some smartphone don't even have the upgradable thingy because do not have the SD slot.

Okay, some might say how about apps and OS? That's is another topic, okay?

Here the desktop PC that iFixIt gave it 10/10, which mean super easy to fix. But I am skeptical because some of the parts need to custom made, or can only purchase from HP, so I am not so agree on the 10/10 score.

Sony Xperia Z2 or D6503 or Sirius

Whatever, this yet to be announce Sony latest Android looks cool! However I still don't like Sony putting so much of area for bezel only.

Another thing that I noticed from the video, the 'click' sound is every touch on the screen is very annoying!

Here is a list of feature that you want to check out:
Time - Feature
0:11 - Exterior
1:05 - boot up
1:36 - home screen and the launcher
4:15 - "simple" home screen - which is good during driving or older people
7:45 - camera and it's apps
8:12 - 4K video!
10:14 - proof of 20Mpixel camera
10:38 - playing a video - Smurfs 2 Trailer!
11:45 - Album - not sure which version. Thanks to XDA, I have a port version in my SGS2 (older version). Btw, Apple sort of copied the similar idea into iOS.
